Hardened my LAN traffic with openwrt.

It was 2020 around when isp’s around my area didn’t have any CGNAT and had a nice public ip, I went to my routers UI : Set up the port forwarding by looking at reddit resources and through blogs for how to setup one.

Got the jellyfin server behind the public ip with port, when accessed it from another location, was able to access it , speed was fine too.

Placing my server in a briefcase.

Having a server at home that provides you with smb and other stuff : Great but when moving to another location, not having that facility hurts and makes a major requirement to be fulfilled.

Got a raspberry pi 4 from from a person as a second hand device, as it was 2022 and getting a new one was quite hard to find so found one in another city.

Started looking for arm options that can provide me with nas like features on the network.

My introduction to a tiling window manager.

Linux

Started using i3wm in linux , got it installed on plain debian, had the whole thing setup starting with configuring all the files manually, I had 3 displays so learning i3 was a great switch. It was my first introduction to the tiling manager, now after using it for past few years if I see someone not using tiles it just feels out of place for using mouse to click and drag.

Again and again standing up to turn on the bluetooth speaker tends to get in the way when done regularly so I have this tribit speaker and a jbl one that are designed to turn off after 15minutes of inactivity, which isn’t suitable for me as when working on desk, it can go inactive for more than 15 alot of time.

Not just that most devs or any person would have just a speaker always on in background, just to trigger music when one wants.
